Anthony Bourdain: I love his passion for food and his New Yorker (by way of NJ) attitude.
He eats at all the best spots! Speaking of great places, care to share some local favorites with us?
Tenement Museum - Great slice of history that is uniquely New York. This is a cool way to learn about the immigrant experience of the late 19th, early 20th century. Walking in the actual buildings lived in by immigrants provides an experience that reading just can't compare to. Nice gift shop.
Harney and Sons - If you love different types of teas, as well as the ritual of it all, you must come to the US location of H&S. Enjoy a complimentary sample of tea while the chill staff climb a ladder to get some Viennese Earl Grey from the tins, which tower up to the high SoHo ceiling. The scones are fabulous as well.
Mayahuel - Celebrated my birthday here in a small but special way. Drink menu is so extensive and REALLY interesting. Lots of tequilas. Vibe is dark, mysterious, sexy: sort of Day of the Dead meets underground bar. Birthday churros were so delicious that I want them every year instead of cake.
Hummus Place - This is my favorite cheap meal in the city. Hummus with mushrooms is my spot, though I try to taste a lot of the menu. Pickles and olives are $1 and a great accompaniment to the hummus and pita meal. Falafel is very good, and dip in zhug if you love hot sauce! The best baklava I've ever had.
Town Shop - Town Shop changed my life. If you've heard the statistic that something like 80% of women wear the wrong bra size, it probably applies to you. Get fitted here by the bra experts and start wearing the correct size! It's crazy how nearly every US retailer offers a small range of bra sizes when actual women vary so much. Get fitted here and you will probably be surprised, and better supported.
