Google Austin gets fashionable at the East Side Cycle Soiree

It’s hard to be stylish in the triple-digit August heat, but that doesn’t stop Austin’s fashion community from pulling it off. At a recent event for Austin Fashion Week, the Google Places crew got in on the runway action as the presenting sponsor of the East Side Cycle Soiree at Method Hair.

A crowd of about 200 turned out for the delicious drinks from local libationists Graham’s Texas Tea and Treaty Oak Rum, while Freebirds helped the crowd ditch their “model diets” with hearty helpings of burritos and queso. A performance by the Best Best Best Friends brass band got the crowd dancing, while a fashion show featuring local designers capped off the evening.

Amid all the action, we set up a live reviewing station for Google Places, where fashionistas could review their favorite boutiques, salons and more — or discover new ones. The stylish soiree also served as a benefit for the Austin Cycling Association, who raffled off several designer pieces and encouraged people to bike to the event.
