Satisfying our sweet tooth: Google New York heads to Robicelli’s at DeKalb Market

DeKalb Market is a new collection of eateries and shops in downtown Brooklyn that’s getting a lot of buzz from the local community. It’s probably unlike other markets you’ve seen given that the food, clothing and other retailers have set up shop in work-sell spaces made out of shipping containers.

On a recent Thursday afternoon, we went to check out this unique space and do a cupcake giveaway at  Robicelli’s at DeKalb Market.

There are cupcakes and then there are Robicelli’s cupcakes. This bakery has more than 160 flavors of the delectable treats, which they rotate. These come in creative concoctions like The Elvis, which is made from banana cake, peanut butter buttercream and candied bacon bits; cupcakes dedicated to the Golden Girls (spoiler alert: they involve cheesecake); and numerous others. On top of that, Robicelli’s also offers brownies and whoopie pies.

We took over one of the numerous picnic tables in the tented seating area of the market and set up some laptops and schwag. As word of the giveaway spread, we were surrounded by folks reviewing their favorite places and lining up to get their free cupcake. We ended up talking to more than 100 people over the course of a few hours!
