Jenny Ammirati and her husband Gino have a passion for and inventive approach to yogurt. At Culture: An American Yogurt Company, theirs is made fresh daily and served with fun (and tasty!) house-made seasonal toppings, such as key lime pie, strawberry balsamic and piña colada. The yogurt is made Greek-style with antibiotic-free and hormone-free milk, and a sweetened soft-serve frozen version in a rotation of flavors is also available. With August’s hot days upon us, we figured Brooklynites could use a frozen treat.

We decided to team up with F’d in Park Slope (FiPS), a popular Brooklyn blog, to do a #FroyoThursday giveaway at Culture. Gino and Jenny generously agreed to create a special flavor for the big day and FiPS ran a poll for its readers to determine what the flavor should be. They even created a rad poster for the occasion!

The winning flavor was mint, served with mini dark chocolate chips. The day of the giveaway was a hot and muggy one, with storm clouds looming. Luckily, the sun stayed out, making it perfect weather for a frosty treat.

Folks lined up and down the block to talk to us about Google Places, write some reviews of their favorite New York spots, and of course get some free froyo. We talked to more than 100 people in the first hour alone!

As luck would have it, the rain held out until just after we gave away our last frozen yogurt voucher, though people were still filing in despite the storm clouds outside.

Major thanks to everyone at Culture and FiPS who made the giveaway such a success. We had a blast, and we can’t wait to go back for more of that tangy, scrumptious yogurt!

Did you miss our froyo giveaway? Don’t fret, we have more awesome activities in the works. Sign-up for our newsletter and follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date.
