Info Post
Editor’s Note: Now and then we'll spotlight one of our amazing Google Places reviewers. Both so you guys can start to get to know one another and so we can pull together and share our favorite local places. This week we introduce you to Kathryn Liverani of New York.

To find out more about our community activities in New York, follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Kathryn has been living in New York City for a decade (officially a “New Yorker”!). An attorney by day, she loves to cook and bake in her spare time. She also blogs about cooking with her Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) share. When she first came to NYC, she didn't know what she wanted to do with her life, but she knew she wanted to be able to have Thai food delivered to her apartment at one in the morning. Mission accomplished!

Can you share an ultimate insider tip for New York?

Make friends with your neighbors! Start by supporting your local businesses and becoming a regular at a bar or restaurant near your place. One of the things I love the most about where I live now is being able to walk down the block and wave to three or four people I know, from my upstairs neighbor to the woman who splits my CSA share with me to a couple in the building next door who have the best backyard barbecues. New York is a city of neighborhoods; be a contributing part of your neighborhood, and you'll get back every bit of what you give, and more.

If you were going to draw a Google Doodle, what would it look like?

A fitting tribute to the best summer sandwich ever: the BLT. Make the G out of toast, the two O's tomato slices, a lettuce leaf G, a bacon L and a mayonnaise E. Okay, now I'm hungry!

If you could see any celebrity's reviews on Places, who would you choose and why?

He's maybe more of a "celebrity restauranteur" than a straight up celebrity, but I would love to see Danny Meyer's reviews on Google Places. His eateries are consistently outstanding in food, drinks, service and atmosphere. I'd love to hear from him about other places in the city that measure up to his exacting standards.

Halloween: an NYC favorite

Mmm, he does have great taste! Care to share some of your local favorites with us?

Eleven Madison Park - Everything at Eleven Madison Park is perfection, from the moment you're greeted at the door — often by name — to the mignardises. The food is sublime — especially their pork preparations — and the service is spot on — friendly, but not stuffy. They will really go out of their way to make your experience there a memorable one.

Islands - Everything I have ever had at the Islands — from the savory stew chicken to the spicy jerk leg of lamb — has been outstanding. I dream of their coconut-laced rice and peas, and even their homemade lemonade is spectacular.

Brucie - Every dish at this creative Greenmarket Italian restaurant has made me both glad that it exists and jealous that I didn't think of it first. Pasta with tomato butter, brussels sprouts and burrata made me wish for an extra stomach so I could keep eating it forever. The sausage-stuffed pepper on polenta was even better. My friend and I fought over every last bite of every dish we shared. The friendly vibe and atmosphere is perfect for dates, but equally excellent for just catching up with friends. Love it.

Robert G Salon - Arsenio is the only thing standing between me and utter hair disaster! Seriously, the tired, shaggy, gray-streaked Kathryn walking into the salon doesn't even resemble the shiny, bouncy Kathryn who leaves the salon flipping her rich chestnut strands over her shoulder. Arsenio is a true genius, and he's more than happy to make suggestions if you need a little guidance on a new look or two. Plus the salon has a comfy couch, a big stack of magazines, and free wine and cookies. Heavenly!

John’s Deli - Everything here is great — the rice balls, the eggplant parm hero — but the best of the best is the roast beef and mutz hero. Juicy roast beef is sliced before your eyes and piled onto a hero roll, topped with fresh mozzarella, caramelized onions and this ridiculously great mysterious black gravy. Pair it with a Wild Cherry Pepsi or a Manhattan Special and you've got a ticket to bliss.
