Toasting Austin’s favorite cartoonist of culture, Amber Demure

Savvy Austinites all share a secret they don’t want their bosses to discover: they spend countless office hours surfing local blogger Amber Demure’s two popular websites. Between her frequently updated nightlife blog and Amber’s uproariously funny cartoon diary of her life, the social media maven may be single-handedly responsible for decreasing Austin’s overall worker productivity.

So when Amber attended a blogger happy hour thrown by our Austin Google Places team last month, we knew what we had to do: throw a reader appreciation party for her featuring Amber’s two favorites, cupcakes and champagne.

More than 50 Amber Demure readers took to their phones and laptops to submit reviews of their favorite business on Google Places, and Amber herself chose the winners based on whose reviews were the funniest, most creative, and most well-written. The 25 winners joined their idol at local favorite Gibson Bar for some bubbly, with top-rated Austin cupcake Place Sugar Mama’s Bakeshop providing the tasty treats.

Overall, it was a cork-flying, icing-swirling good time, and we can’t wait to partner up with many or our other favorite local bloggers soon.
