When you hear “Dumbo” you may think of flying elephants, but in New York City, DUMBO is a vibrant neighborhood in Brooklyn that stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. It’s an area that attracts artists, start-ups, and other creative businesses and groups.
Part of the Manhattan Bridge can be seen here (along with a possible tribute to the original Dumbo).
Digital DUMBO is an organization formed in 2009 that serves the technology community by raising awareness for and fostering local businesses. They seek to showcase talent, educate the tech community, and facilitate idea exchange. This was a great opportunity for Google Places to join forces with Digital DUMBO to host a workshop on social media and geo products.
We gathered on July 26th at reRun Theater at reBar, a colorful screening room with hubcaps along the bar and couches made of converted car seats.
During the 90-minute lunchtime workshop, we asked the attendees, many of whom are active in the digital community, for their thoughts on social products, reviews, and Google Places in general.
We met some awesome local members of the media community who are interested in new digital trends, got their thoughtful opinions, plenty of valuable feedback, and enjoyed a tasty lunch! A big thanks to Digital DUMBO and all the participants.
