Info Post
On one recent Saturday, we invited the winners of our Dim Sum Om Nom Nom contest to dine on dim sum with us at the historic Nom Wah Tea Parlor, Chinatown’s first dim sum parlor.

Established in 1920, Nom Wah is on Doyers Street, on a bend in the street that was once known as the “Bloody Angle” (back in the neighborhood’s rough-and-tumble days).

Today, of course, the neighborhood is much safer. Nom Wah is run by Wilson Tang, who inherited the restaurant from his uncle. While the space has had some renovations, the family’s tradition of serving up delicious dim sum continues. Our group of 20 enjoyed an amazing variety of steamed and fried dim sum at our brunch...

… including pan-fried noodles, meatballs, vegetarian dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, shrimp and snowpea leaf dumplings, stuffed eggplant, wonton soup and Chinese vegetables. We also enjoyed house pan-fried dumplings, shrimp and bacon rolls, and tofu skin rolls — not to mention Chinese milk tea and sesame rolls for dessert!

Needless to say, we had a fantastic time at Nom Wah Tea Parlor and look forward to returning again soon! And if you missed out on the dim sum fun, don’t worry: There’s a lot more deliciousness where that came from. Just be sure to sign up for our newsletter and follow us on Twitter and Facebook to stay up to date.
