Google New York hosts #bikenyc meetup with Brooklyn by Bike

It may not be Portland or Amsterdam, but the bicycles are pretty prevalent in New York City, too. In fact, there is a blog solely dedicated to the cycling scene in Brooklyn appropriately titled Brooklyn by Bike, helmed by Anita Singh. We decided to join forces to host a meetup to celebrate local bike culture.

We held a contest beforehand for two $50 gift cards to Red Lantern Bicycles, a new bike shop in Fort Greene. Congrats to our lucky winners, Craig and Mary!

We also held the meetup at Red Lantern, which has a spacious layout with all the gear in the back, a coffee shop/bar area in the front and plenty of indoor bike parking.

At the meetup, we chatted with a number of local cycling enthusiasts and handed out pairs of striped Google Places socks. A number of people walking by the shop even came in off the street to see what all the fun was about. Big thanks to Red Lantern and Bike by Brooklyn for having us!
