Location: Decatur, Georgia
What are some of the first places you rated on Google, and what did you say about them in your reviews?
Yogurt Tap: The Yogurt Tap is awesome! My wife and I love going there on a whim with our daughter, who also loves it. The flavors are really good and they have a lot of toppings to choose from. It's at a great location, too, right in the middle of downtown Decatur, which makes it a perfect place to stop whenever there are community events in the plaza or after a meal at any of the great restaurants in the area.
Mediterranean Grill: One of our default places because of how good the food is. They also deliver to our area which is very convenient.
Dua Vietnamese Noodle Soup: Soooo tasty! For some reason, the ambiance of the basement adds something to the experience. It's all about the atmosphere.
Java Monkey: Good coffee, friendly staff, and nice atmosphere, but it can get a little crowded by campers. It's a good thing it's located in downtown Decatur, which is always a nice venue for a walk with a cup of coffee in hand.
Reuben's Deli: Reuben's Deli has that authentic New York deli vibe. Great sandwiches and reasonably priced.
Have you discovered any new places thanks to Google? What's the story behind your search?
One day for lunch, I had a hankering for a burger while at work. A quick search for [burgers] on Google Maps for Android showed me Buns & Shakes literally around the corner from my office. While it wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing place to eat, the burger was tasty and the shake was awesome. Both were satisfying beyond my expectations.
I've found a few other places, too, but haven't had a chance to check them out yet. I star those places using Google Maps on my Android phone to save them for later in case I'm out and about and looking for a place to eat.
Describe your perfect Saturday afternoon.
It usually involves my wife and I getting a cup of coffee at either Java Monkey or Dancing Goats Coffee Bar on the way to taking our daughter to Glenlake Park. We usually spend a couple of hours there as she swings, slides, runs, and climbs all over the playground. (She insists that I go down the slide after her despite the fact that it's a little too small for grown-ups.) Afterward, we'll stop by The Yogurt Tap for some frozen yogurt, which our daughter loves, and then head across the street to the square to let her run around some more.
Where can I get a delicious burger in your town?
Farm Burger, no contest. In fact, I don't know why I haven't actually written a review for it. (I've only rated it and marked it as a Best Ever.) They have by far the most deliciously awesome burgers you've ever tasted. The menu of options for customizing your burger is almost overwhelming. Their burgers are made from 100% grassfed beef that's ground daily.
What are some of your Best Evers, and why?
Satchel's Pizza, Gainesville, FL. Awesome pizza! The lunch special is a sweet deal. The atmosphere is even better. Check out the bags of fair trade coffee they sell, too!
The Top, Gainesville, FL. When I lived in Gainesville, The Top was at the top of the list for our favorite places to eat. My wife and I would meet our friends there almost every Friday without fail, and sometimes during the week as well. The atmosphere was great, the food was excellent, and the service was friendly. My favorite items on the menu included the San Diego Style Stuffed Chicken, That Spicy Peanut Coconut Dish (actual name), sweet potato fries, buffalo tempeh, and a few others — too many to name.
