Fun at Fat Cat with Google New York

On one recent Thursday, Google New York hosted a #ThirstyThursday happy hour at a beloved bar and hangout in the West Village, Fat Cat:

A basement bar, the entry to Fat Cat may be easy to miss, but the place itself is unforgettable.

Known for its cheap drinks, Fat Cat is a real Manhattan gem. They’ve got inexpensive gaming tables — you’ll find everything from pool to shuffleboard to ping pong — and great music — at least three live jazz acts nightly for a reasonable $3 cover.

They’ll even let you order food in, since they don’t serve it themselves (we ordered pizzas from Two Boots Pizza). If you’re not into pool or ping pong, you can also play classic board games like Scrabble, chess and Backgammon.

With all of these factors combined, as well as a cavernous space and an warm vibe, Fat Cat consistently proves to be a great place to go for some low-key fun with a big group of friends. Hence, why it made such a great spot for a Google Places community activity. Oh! And pro tip from our Places users: It's a great place for a first or second date.
