Info Post
Editor’s Note: Now and then we'll spotlight one of our amazing Google Places reviewers. Both so you guys can start to get to know one another and so we can pull together and share our favorite local places. This week we introduce you to Rob Blatt of Brooklyn, New York.

To find out more about our community activities in New York, follow us on Twitter or Facebook

Rob grew up in New York and left the city for a few years around college — and we’re glad he came back! He loves biking around Brooklyn, blogging, playing guitar, hanging out in Prospect Park, taking his dogs out for walks around Park Slope and playing video games.

Do you have any secret talents?
Competitive eating! It's not terribly secret anymore, but I have a talent to eat a lot of food and very quick. I'm not about to participate against professionals just yet, but I'd like to think I'm still pretty good.

Can you share an ultimate insider tip for New York?
Two tips. First, only go to the top of the Empire State Building between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. There are no lines to get to the top and if it's a clear night, you won't get a better view of the city. Second, if you love the beach, but don't particularly care for swimming or the sane, head to Valentino Park in Red Hook. It's far enough out of the way where you won't get tourists or too many people, and it has the best view of the Statue of Liberty in the city (aside from the Staten Island ferry).

What’s your favorite Google event you’ve been to and why?
I really enjoyed going to the Google offices in NYC and meeting the Places team, but I know I'll love the Robicelli's cupcakes giveaway the best. Their cupcakes are out of this world. Also, if you check out their list of cupcakes during Hanukkah, you may find “The Blatt.”

We’ll be sure to keep an eye out! Care to share some more your local favorites with us?

Campo DE Fiori:This is the place to get grilled pizza. The staff is especially friendly, so expect a warm smile and a bit if conversation. The pizza list is extensive and the wine list matches the pizza.

High Dive: The drinks are cheap, the bartenders are friendly and the atmosphere is always great. Great jukebox, but I suggest letting the bartenders play their iPods. Free wifi and popcorn, and happy hour has a $2 brew if you're into drinking on the cheap. No TVs, a back patio when the weather is warm and non-gender specific bathrooms (line goes faster). If you're into playing 20th anniversary Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga, they have a machine in the back that has been kept in great condition. I suggest grabbing a beer, heading for the Ms. Pac-Man and forgetting your worries.

WORD: The best bookstore in the city. The staff is amazing and friendly, the choice of books the store has decided to carry is wonderful and the events put on by WORD are top-notch.

Sideshows by the Seashore: I can't say enough about how much I love the sideshow at Coney Island. Not just the sideshow, but the tradition they uphold for the whole area. History and a sideshow? Do it!
