Info Post
Brooklyn Magazine is a quarterly print publication that is dedicated to the culture, style and creativity that makes Brooklyn an inspiration within and beyond New York City. It was created by the same team who runs The L Magazine, an alternative weekly city guide. On Sept. 14, Google Places attended the launch party for Brooklyn Magazine’s Fall 2011 issue.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden

There was no better place to celebrate than at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a museum for living plants that has been a local cultural institution for nearly a century.

Inside the Botanic Garden's Palm House

Hundreds of guests mingled outside, enjoying treats like ice cream and oysters, and filled the lovely glass-encased Palm House, where we set up a table for attendees to write reviews of their local favorites and hand out Google Places schwag.

Leading up to the party, we also ran a contest for a prize package of a Chromebook and dinner for four at Roberta’s. Our winner was Jesse Henderson, who wrote hundreds of quality reviews and told us he’d be giving the Chromebook to his mom (aww!):

It was a beautiful evening, one of the last warm days of summer, and we’re happy to have spent it in such a gorgeous setting, lauding a great local publication.

Google New York has more contests, parties, and other community activities coming up. Keep up with us by signing up for our newsletter and following us on Twitter and Facebook.
