Info Post
Google New York joined forces with Digital DUMBO earlier this summer for a workshop on reviews and community building. We decided to team up with them again to host their monthly party in August. The theme? New York City nostalgia. On August 25, hundreds of members of the local tech community gathered in The DUMBO Loft to learn about Google Places, network and put their knowledge of NYC trivia to the test!

The party broke all previous records for Digital DUMBO with more than 1,500 RSVPs and 550 attendees.

Since Digital DUMBO connects the greatest digital minds in Brooklyn and beyond, we thought it was only fitting to run a contest for a Samsung Galaxy Tab. We announced the winner, Nick Andreoli, at the party:

Throughout the evening, a DJ played retro tunes to keep the nostalgia going. We also projected NYC trivia questions on a big screen for a chance to win a Google Places schwag bag. Guests had to answer the questions in a specific way: by showing the Place page for the correct business/location on their smartphones or on laptops we provided.

Sample trivia question and answer.

We also invited guests to pose for photos against a Google Places/New York City Emoji background:

Mega-thanks to the folks at Digital DUMBO and our volunteers for making it such a fun party.
