Info Post
Editor’s Note: Recently, we introduced you to our Brooklyn community manager, Margarita. She’s spreading the good word about Google Places throughout this beloved New York bureau. Below, Margarita recaps a recent meetup she co-hosted at a popular local pub.

The Real Brooklyn Nets (#RealBKNets) is a group made up of bloggers, small business advocates, tech and media folks. In other words, some of our favorite people! They were kind enough to let Google Places co-host their June meetup at the 4th Avenue Pub in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn. We invited locals to come out to enjoy some drinks on us, chat about our favorite places, and do some reviewing!

How do you like our sweet Places pin temporary tattoo? Send a tweet to @GoogleNYC if you want one!

Of course, we also had some fun schwag on hand, including NYC Emoji t-shirts and magnets!

It was our first community activity in Brooklyn, and we were glad to be on hand to meet some fun new people, show them how to install and use the Google Places app on their Android-powered phones and iPhones, and exchange recommendations for new bars, restaurants, and other local businesses. We can’t wait to try them out (and, of course, review them)!

Dennis Hurley, one of the founders of The Real BK Nets, chats with a local woman who used Google Places to discover yarn stores mere moments earlier.

It may look like we’re playing cards, but we’re actually discussing how Google Places can help local businesses and brainstorming more cool activities we could do in Brooklyn.

It was a happy hour that lived up to its name and we’re grateful to The Real BK Nets and the Fourth Avenue Pub and for having us.

We’ve got more exciting stuff planned for Brooklyn, so be sure stay tuned on Twitter and Facebook for more updates, invites, and giveaways!
