Nathan T.: “Pokez has been in San Diego as long as I have been going downtown. The menu is very diet conscious and super vegan/veggy friendly. The staff is energetic and usually leaves [you] alone, which is perfect for dining with a long lost friend.”
To round out that week, we teamed up with the Corner Cupcakes truck to hand out 100 Mr. Emoji cupcakes at Mission Brewery to people who showed us their Google Places app for their Android phone or iPhone. Beer and cupcakes: a perfect pairing, especially the chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel frosting.
Mission Brewery has long been a San Diego staple. They’ve moved to a new location, right by Petco Park — the perfect spot to meet friends for a drink before heading to the Padres game. One reviewer has this to say about the brewery:
ghomyak: “Good selection of beer and the new spot is pretty cool. Try their Hef, it's award winning and I love it! Don't think of it anywhere close to the flat taste of a Shock Top, their Hef has pear, banana, and other fruity flavors that really make it one of the best I have tasted. There is parking just west of the place for fairly cheap (when there's no Padres game).”
This week for Taco Tuesday we’re going to — insert drum roll — South Beach Bar & Grill in Ocean Beach! This is by far the most requested spot, after asking you all on @GoogleSanDiego where you wanted to head to next. Then on Thursday, we’ll head over to Yogurt Farm in Ocean Beach that also serves sushi, as suggested to us by one of our budding Places power users:
Laura: “They have lots of different flavors of frozen yogurts, and different fresh fruits and cereals and toppings to put on them. They also serve sushi, ready made or made to order. The sushi is decent. They also serve bagels now for breakfast which are pretty good.”
Want to join in the fun? Log on to Google Places and start reviewing your favorite San Diego spots. We’ll be hooking up loyal users all around SD, just follow @GoogleSanDiego on Twitter for announcements on where we’ll be next!
